Bold and dramatic, this modern contemporary apartment interior design gets its inspiration from the visionary British craftsman, Timothy Oulton. Striving for an authentic take on contemporary design, the apartment is reimagined with a fresh, unique perspective on modern contemporary style. Antiquity seamlessly fuses with minimalism to create innovative interior spaces that are stylish, inspiring and functional.

The entrance foyer sets the tone for the rest of the apartment with its lively, animated design. Segregated from the living salon by decorative panels on two sides, the foyer is unpretentious but attractive with a combination of creatively crafted furniture and abstract wall art. A large, unadorned circular mirror makes a bold statement on the teal-colored wall partition; a deliberate play on scale in the compact entrance foyer.

The salon is spacious, airy and brightly lit. The original windows remain intact, offering spectacular views of the ocean beyond while letting in plenty of natural light. A row of plants outside the window are refreshingly green and deliberately simple to avoid competing with the magnificent view. The furniture is sleek, yet comfortable, without being stuffy or pretentious. Perfect for entertaining or relaxing, the grey sofas are neutral, allowing the colorful artwork to take center stage. They compliment the original dark colored flooring, which remains untouched.
Long, clean lines emphasize the linearity of the room. A long wall, adjacent to the windows, s a sleek, flat screen TV and colorful wall art. A dark brown shelf, spanning the length of the wall, runs just below the TV, matching the color of the original floor. A tan lounge chair tucked into the corner, picks up on the brown unit tucked neatly under the wall shelf. The salon itself is a carefully designed work-of-art, where every piece has its deliberate space while being casual enough to be used as a chilled out living room space if desired.

The teal color in the entrance foyer is mirrored on the dining room wall, which houses a striking piece of artwork above a tan colored unit. An eight-seater marble-topped table forms the centerpiece of this brightly lit room. A modern, lighting fixture comprised of LED lights on the end of metal rods is suspended from the ceiling and provides direct illumination for dining. The subtle use of similar colors and like-styled furniture unifies the dining area, entrance foyer, and salon in this modern, contemporary apartment interior design. The dining area also comprises a mini-bar storage unit with a wine cellar, an electric cigar humidor and a niche for whiskey bottles neatly incorporated into the window wall. The door to the kitchen is concealed in the teal partition wall.

The piece de resistance of this modern, contemporary apartment interior design is the generous balcony, converted into a cigar lounge. Glass partitioned doors cordon off this space from the rest of the apartment when used for this purpose. Large, seamless window walls blur the distinction between interior and exterior, with uninterrupted views of the endless ocean beyond. The furniture pieces are bespoke Timothy Oulton originals, from the designer’s sought-after collection. Rugged and masculine, these reinvented antiques exhibit expert craftsmanship, while being extremely comfortable. The flooring from the interior continues into this space, tying the spaces together. Exposed brick wall cladding gives this space a vintage vibe, as does the floor mounted, pedestal lighting accessory. Distinctly masculine in flavor, this room is splendid in its seamless amalgamation of old and new, hinting at an era gone by, but clearly intended for modern-day use.
