Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese art (over 8000 years old) that is used to create a balance of energy within a space. It is believed that balancing the flow of energy within a home can lead to good health and good fortune.
The principles of Feng Shui interior design for this home in Lebanon use objects, colors, and materials to create positive vibes that help balance out perceived flaws in the design. These principles are applied to every room in the house to create positivity for those who live there as well as those who visit the home.
The chosen earthy color palette connects the home with its surroundings.
The entrance, which is perceived to be the heart of the home, is made warm and welcoming by the use of natural browns, grays, and yellows. Mirrors flanking the main door help ward off unwanted negativity and also reflect light, keeping this space well-lit at all times. The hint of silver accents is believed to help enhance protection over the household.
The entrance hallway adopts an open design, eliminating unnecessary walls and doors, which may act as barriers to the flow of energy through the house. The earthy palette continues into the space, creating a warm and welcoming vibe. Light walls are paired with darker floors; textured bronze metallic wall finishes add a subtle hint of luxury to the home and also make the entrance feel brighter.
A neat storage unit hides away items such as keys. A clutter-free home is essential in Feng Shui interior design to ensure a stress-free environment.
The tall, minimalist bamboo plants add a bright pop of color to the entrance and help to balance out yin and yang forces within the home.
The living room is the main social hub of the home. Feng Shui design aims to make this space conducive to lively conversation, so family members and guests alike can feel happy and relaxed.
The primary living room is situated in the middle of the house, with the furniture organized around this space, keeping the center free. This is essential to prevent any blockage of energy flow in the house.
The use of carpets and the low rectangular table provide a buffer between the energy of the entrance and that of the living room space. They also help to ground this generous space.
Blue-green sofa upholstery breaks the monotony of browns and beiges and creates a calm, refreshing vibe that is key to maintaining a positive flow of energy through this vital central space.
The dining area is located in the southern part of the house and promotes family well-being. It is a place to enjoy meals together and share experiences. Feng Shui interior design for dining rooms aims to create a space that is peaceful and friendly and promotes abundance within the household.
Soothing colors, light billowy curtains, and soft lighting makes the dining area cozy, warm, and inviting. The soft white curtains can be drawn during the day to bathe the interior with the energizing rays of the morning sun.
The smaller salon located to the north of the dining area overlooks the pool outside, integrating the element of water into the design. Yellow accents complement the gold used in the interior décor and fill the salon with a positive, joyful energy. Furniture is placed on the periphery of natural pathways through the room, ensuring an uninterrupted flow of energy through the space.
The guest bedroom is nourished with a soft energy that is reinforced by the use of luxurious textured fabrics, warm indirect lighting, and soft earthy hues. A soft carpet under the bed and the shaggy surface of the seat at the foot of the bed soften the dark flooring and angular lines of the room.
The balance between yin and yang is essential for restful sleep in the bedroom.
The bathroom is a place for rejuvenating the senses after a long, stressful day. Its design should promote recovery, allowing the user to wind down after a hard day of work.
The vibe in all the bathrooms is modern. Light, earthy colors (primarily in shades of gray) make the bathrooms look more spacious. They also reflect light, making the space feel bright and airy.
Concealed light sources provide soft, diffused lighting. Large mirrors reflect the light, increasing the perception of space.
Light fittings and cabinetry are paired with dark flooring and accent walls in the guest bedroom en-suite. The same color scheme is maintained in this bathroom but reversed, with dark cabinetry and light-colored walls and flooring.
Ample storage ensures that the bathrooms stay clutter-free. Toiletries and cosmetics are effectively hidden. The effect is calming, soothing, and rejuvinating.
The kitchen follows an open plan and is divided from the adjoining salon by a breakfast counter. The kitchen is visualized as a place that encourages creativity and joy in the preparation of meals that can be enjoyed by the family.
Honey-gold accents add creative energy to the kitchen. The center of the space is left empty to ensure that energy within the kitchen moves freely. The honey-colored upholstery is cheerful and vibrant, providing a happy contrast to the earth-colored elements in the kitchen area. The honey tones also pick up on the various metallic gold accents used in the lighting fixtures and furniture pieces, tying the design together.
As with other rooms in the house, a clutter-free kitchen not only enhances the modern vibe of the space but is also symbolic of a clutter-free environment that promotes healthy eating.
The same honey-gold accents are continued into the adjoining salon space. A low table and carpets ground this space while providing a buffer between the energy of the different spaces.
The Feng Shui interior design of these adjoining spaces promotes imagination, creativity, and relaxation, which is the ideal vibe for both of these rooms.
As you climb the stairs to the upper level, the first space that greets you is a charming TV room. Earthy grays and browns ground the energy in this space, which is bright and airy with a view to the nature outside. The geometric square and rectangular shapes give the impression of a highly organized space that is kept neat and free from unwanted items.
Light, flowing curtains provide privacy while letting in the natural light that is so important for healing and relaxation. The TV room is cozy and inviting, the perfect place for the family to enjoy some entertainment.
The guest bedroom is designed to be soft and inviting. From the silk pillows to the soft, flowing curtains, rich materials and textures create a gentle energy in the room. This is ideal for a good night’s sleep.
The bathroom is fresh and bright, with clean reflective surfaces that are great to promote a feeling of well-being and rejuvination.
The children’s bedroom is a space designed to make children feel safe and happy. Feng Shui interior design for the children’s bedroom aims to promote a nourishing environment to increase positive energies that are beneficial for creativity and protection.
Soft, flowing fabrics and colors (such as mineral violet) increase the perception of safety and protection. Light gray accents against the pure white furniture and bed accessories create a soft, flowing energy that is conducive to harmony and creativity.
The floor-to-ceiling headboard creates a strong, supportive surface for the bed. This promotes better sleep and makes children feel well supported in life.
The master bedroom is an intimate space that is a private sanctuary for its occupants. The energy force in the master bedroom offers calm, serenity, and peace to its inhabitants. Simultaneously, it is also meant to energize the magnetism between the couple.
The use of wood elements in the space promotes deep, rejuvenating sleep that increases a person’s daily energy levels. The rounded edges of the bed and headboard are protective elements that make occupants feel secure.
The wooden partition across from the bed provides a kind of enclosure for the cupboards and also provides support for mounting the TV. It also serves the purpose of hiding any sharp corners that might face the bed and disrupt a restful sleep. The soft rugs on either side of the bed serve the same purpose: they mellow the effects of any sharp angles or corners that might interrupt the flow of energy.
The dressing table and walk-in wardrobe, with its angles and sharp corners, are carefully placed so they don’t face the bed. Similarly, the mirror in the dressing area is placed so as not to face the bed.
The master bathroom is tastefully designed with frosted glass enclosures to segregate functions without blocking light. White cabinets and fixtures complement the beige flooring and walls while soft, concealed lighting helps rejuvenate the senses.
The design ensures that the mirror is not placed opposite the entrance to the bathroom as this would reflect positive energy out of the space.
A wooden staircase leads to the upper level that houses the gym and changing rooms. The use of clean, orthogonal lines for the space reflects the feeling of order and organization that is important in aiding the clear flow of energy through the house.
A graceful, flowing chandelier adds style and luxury to the space; its curved form balances the sharp angles of the staircase.
The walk-in-closet next to the gym is furnished with light colors and flowing curtains. The soft light and fabrics mitigate the space restrictions of the compact area, making the room feel open and airy. A turquoise-blue pouf adds a chic finishing touch to the room.
Bright and airy, the gym is designed to energize occupants into having a productive workout. The large windows let in ample natural light that is augmented by abundant indoor lighting. Light-patterned flooring and white surfaces are offset by brightly colored accessories.
Plants add a revitalizing energy to the space. Organization is key to maintaining a clean appearance; cabinets and open shelving are provided to store towels and conceal other workout clutter.
The bathrooms are neat and clean in appearance, with white surfaces contrasting with the dark flooring. The space is soothing and relaxing.
The wooden sauna is ideal to rejuvenate the body and mind after a strenuous workout.
A person’s home is their private paradise; the balance between positive and negative energies ensures that the space provides its occupants with healing, protective, and creative energies.
Feng Shui interior design ensures the balance of yin and yang energies through the creative use of color, texture, and materials and the strategic placements of objects. Every room is treated individually based on its primary purpose, but the overall design of the house is modern, ordered and structured, while also being warm and inviting.
