A Café Container or ‘Pop Up Cafe’ is a great way to make your business stand out from the competition. Socializing over a cup of coffee has become an integral part of our culture and that’s where café container design comes into play!
Founded by Ziad Saadeh, shipping container design is modular architecture at its best! Utilizing intermodal shipping containers as its principal structural element, the design is economical and highly flexible, making it ideal for use in multiple locations and for a variety of applications.
For the café container design, rather than use a horizontal profile, two 12-meter containers are vertically stacked atop each other, to accommodate 20 guests on the ground floor and 20 guests on the upper floor.

To speed up the construction, the interior wooden furnishings are all prefabricated, enabling speedy delivery and adaptability in construction.  The exterior walls are smoothed out, allowing for easy application of paint.

The various window shapes give the coffee shop a modern, industrial look, that is reinforced by the interior accents, making it a trendy hangout for coffee lovers.

There are two entry points into the café: one can enter via the side door into the lower level container or use the stairs for direct entry to the upper level container. A large, solid wooden counter lit by hanging metal pendants suspended from the ceiling, complete the look. Suspended clusters of glass pendants provide soft, muted lighting during the night.

In addition to the design of the Coffee Container, CAS was also tasked with providing the Arabic and English branding for this start-up company.

The upper level container provides additional seating in solid wood to match the rest of the interior décor and is capable of seating up to 20 customers. It can be accessed via an external wooden staircase, cantilevered from the exterior cladding of the lower container.

Stacked atop one another, the two containers are a modern, ship-shaped coffee shop adapted to any location or site. The containers can be made off-site and delivered to the site location.

Like the newly designed café sitting on the doorsteps of a super mall in Saudi Arabia, the café containers designed by CAS engineers offer lifetime durability and are ideal for weathering the harsh summers of KSA.

Shipping containers are fast becoming a viable option for home and bar designs. With prices as low as $10,000 you can start a great project and build on your success without breaking the bank!
